The only thing I would say to those who are hesitant about taking this quite good and clear course is: take it. Because you can identify your shortcomings and learn how to write an academic paper.
I recommend increasing the amount of article reading.
The course could be conducted in a more interactive way. Good luck to those who will take it in the next semester.
If you get a good grade on the first exam, don't get too comfortable — you might struggle on the second one. And be sure to take notes during the class.

Attend all the classes and study regularly.
Don’t skip discussion tasks, Edpuzzle activities, or quizzes. A large portion of your grade comes from these. Since the allowed number of absences is low, maintaining regular attendance is also very important.
I suggest to take this course,because you are learning how to write an academic essay,which will be helpful you in the future for others courses as well. You will know how to paraphrase,summarise and how to write quotes in essays. I suppose, that course will be helpful for others.

I have found the throughly planned structure of the course quite easy to follow. The academic content of the course was also particularly practical and comprehensive. Since I had had information regarding to academic English skills (essay composition, citation rules, etc.) prior to taking this course, I did not have any troubles regarding to the comprehension and requirements of this course. Hence, I would recommend someone who would take this course in the future to have at least the bare minimum knowledge on these topics and to cover the course materials of each week before attending the lectures.

Select your teammates wisely—or if possible, work solo. In my view, group work culture doesn’t fit this course very well.
Future students should pick their topics carefully: choose something you can write about comfortably, with abundant sources, and that will be genuinely useful to research. However, the rule that restricts Turkish sources to 15 % should be reconsidered, because it limits students’ writing potential.

Overall, I was very satisfied with the course. Preparing the final paper with a partner was a nice experience, but choosing the right partner is really important — this needs special attention. I also realized how crucial it is to use proper sources.
ENG 102 was a valuable course that helped me improve my academic writing and research skills. Especially in the lessons we had around mid-semester, I learned how to think critically and approach topics from different perspectives.
It teached me critical thinking
I actually enjoyed some parts of the course like the logic thing during the semester, but for the most part it was hard for me to keep up with everything because it’s confusing; a lot of studying materials that are not related in any meaningful way. The Dr was really helpful and good at explaining the material. Finally I'm doing engineering, so whats the exact purpose of the course for me; it’s literally destroying my GPA to be frank.
They should do simple reviews after each class.
I think the course was kinda fun and educational but it didnt give me what I was expecting. It was more about seeing if we study for the topics and understand the terms instead of teaching us thinking ways. I believe the course should be less about the terms it teaches and more about the things terms are about. For the students that will take this course in the future, study to it atleast weekly.
The way the instructor has delivered the evolutuon part has changed my opinion on the subject and now I am more open to accept different theories, also this course has increased my knowledge on a wide range of topics I had very little knowledge about which has notably helped me in providing reliable opinions when arguing or discussing topics with people from different backgrounds.

The material is important, but I haven’t managed to give the class my full attention since the start of the term. I enjoy the topics when I study on my own, yet I can’t really focus in class—maybe that’s on me.
The course exposes you to a lot of different subjects. My only issue is that there are too many topics. Early on they connect well, but toward the end the links weaken and it’s hard to see how everything fits together. Tip: simply learning the key terms is usually enough for good marks, because the exams are multiple-choice.

Of all the LIBE courses I’ve taken, this is the one where I learned the most. I hope the content—especially the biology part—never gets removed. Overall it was instructive and fun.

I approached the course with prejudice. Upper-year students said it was great and fun, but I thought, as a STEM major, I’d struggle and dislike it. I was wrong. I had different instructors in the same term, and each taught it in an entertaining way. Thanks to them.

Taking this course was very enjoyable for me.
I find the content fascinating and never get bored in class. Out of all the LIBE courses, 130 is my favorite.
Write a short summary each week and never leave it to the last day; once things pile up, taking notes and memorizing both get hard.
In this course we examined archaeological finds from civilizations like Rome, Egypt, and the Minoans. The visually supported lectures and the poster-preparation-and-presentation process were very instructive. The poster project improved both my research and presentation skills.
The information presented was clear and sufficient. Maybe a museum trip could have reinforced the material even more by letting us see real artifacts in person.
Overall, I found the course very productive and gained a deeper understanding of different cultures’ heritage.
I believe this course has greatly enriched my general cultural knowledge. It was a good experience, course material and group work were interesting for me
This year, we gave a presentation on AI, and designing the video exactly as we wanted was very difficult. No matter how detailed our image prompts were, the visuals often didn’t reflect what we had in mind — or they showed something entirely different. Aside from the AI presentation, the overall course structure is manageable. If you keep up with the material, attend classes regularly, and take notes, the course is easy to follow and enjoyable.
This was a course I loved and found truly engaging. It contributed a lot to my general knowledge. One key point to pay attention to: lecture notes, images of artworks discussed in class, or any slides are not shared with students outside of class. That’s why it’s absolutely crucial to take notes during lectures. I recommend that future students do so diligently. If possible, use a tablet to take notes, so you can organize text and images in one place — this will be a huge advantage when studying for exams.
For me, LIBE130 was one of the most enjoyable courses among all the LIBE classes. We learned about many fascinating works of art and gained insights into the societies of those eras. It was a class I always looked forward to attending. I thank our instructors sincerely. My suggestion to future students is this: don’t listen just because it’s a course, listen because it adds something valuable to you. I don’t think this is a course where learning should be driven by grade anxiety.
